Bonnet/Compere Building

The Bonnet/Compere Building has been converted into what must be one of the most unique homes in all of California. Built of rhyolite blocks and limestone rubble by Pierre Bonnet in 1858, this beautiful structure was originally used as a provision store by Victorene Compere who supplied the miners with tools, clothing and food in exchange for gold. It was restored and remodeled into a private residence in 1939. It is located at 570 Main Street.
